Riesling Fellowship
On December 4, 2013, the German Wine Institute for the first time honored six individuals in London as “Riesling Fellows,” recognizing their outstanding international contributions to Germany’s flagship grape variety. They played a key role in significantly enhancing the appreciation and image of Riesling in the United Kingdom and worldwide.
In the following years, further honors were bestowed:
In 2015 and 2016, five Riesling Fellows were recognized each year at London’s Vintner’s Hall and during Vinexpo in Hong Kong, with the awards presented by Monika Reule, Managing Director of the German Wine Institute. In 2016, an additional four Riesling Fellows from Europe joined the ranks. In 2017, three Riesling Fellows were honored in the United States for the first time. In 2018, four more were added in Hong Kong. In 2019, four Riesling Fellows from Europe were celebrated in Berlin.
On November 12, 2024, Shenghan Wang and Yang Lu were honored with the Riesling Fellowship in recognition of their outstanding commitment to promoting the appreciation of German Riesling in the Chinese market.
