Training Camp for the German Wine Ambassadors
The preparatory seminar for the German Wine Institute’s (DWI) German Wine Ambassadors election marks the start of a year-long period of focused and intensive preparation for the demanding competition.
This year, wine ambassadors from eleven wine-growing regions will gather in Neustadt an der Weinstraße from 4 to 6 August. The wine-growing regions of Saxony and the Nahe are not fielding any candidates for the election this year.
Media and Communication Training
A key component of the three-day workshop is a media and communication training session, during which the regional wine queens receive tips for their stage appearances, which are broadcast live by SWR. The programme also includes a style consultation and a photo shoot. A crash course entitled ‘English for Wine Majesties’ prepares the candidates for the specialist questions in English, which form an important part of the subject-specific preliminary round every year.
SWR programme concept and tips from the reigning Winequeen
SWR Television is using the preparatory seminar as an opportunity to provide information about the broadcast format for the election events. In addition, the reigning German Wine Queen, Anna Zenz, offers helpful tips for the upcoming election and reflects on her year in office.
SWR presenter Holger Wienpahl, who will once again be hosting the preliminary round on 19 September and the final on 25 September, looks forward every year to meeting the contestants in person for the first time during the preparatory seminar.
