A total of 57 exhibitors took part in the two trade fairs – 27 at ProWine Tokyo and 30 at ProWine Singapore. German wine expert Anna Zenz organised 17 short seminars on various topics relating to German wines and provided in-depth insights into origin, style and diversity.

The German joint stands organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection recorded a high visitor frequency in both markets. In addition to Riesling and Pinot varieties, German sparkling wines, light wine styles and grape varieties such as Silvaner and Gewürztraminer also met with growing interest among trade visitors. At accompanying evening events, Anna Zenz also engaged in direct dialogue with trade visitors and consumers and represented German wines as a competent ambassador.

„Riesling & Co. roadshow“ in China

Parallel to this, the „Riesling & Co. roadshow“ was organised in Shanghai and Shenzhen in China. The two events brought together 37 importers of German wines with more than 1,000 trade visitors and wine enthusiasts and emphasised the dynamically growing demand for German white wines. The focus was on open tastings with a focus on Riesling, which were specifically geared towards preparing the trade for the upcoming summer season.

Masterclasses very popular

The accompanying masterclasses were fully booked. Master sommelier Lu Yang and wine expert Xiao Pi presented the stylistic range of German Rieslings under the title „German Dry Riesling – Freshness, Purity, Terroir“. Another masterclass, led by certified wine expert Wu Tan, was dedicated to other German white wines and Pinot Noir. The events impressively illustrated the diversity of German grape varieties and their market potential in China.

Import figures confirm positive market development

Current import figures confirm this development: According to the Chinese customs authority, the import volume of German bottled wines (up to 2 litres) in March 2026 was 399,200 litres, which corresponds to an increase of 18.84% compared to the previous year. The import value reached USD 2.103 million (+11.29%) at an average price of USD 5.27 per litre. German wine already achieved double-digit growth in the first quarter of 2026 with an import volume of 525,900 litres (+27.87%) and an import value of USD 3.127 million (+16.68%).

Further Market Activities in May

The roadshow will continue in Beijing and Qingdao in May. At the end of May, Vinexpo Asia in Hong Kong will be another important event for German wine producers in the Asian market.
