DWI at ProWein 2026: Spotlight on Low Alcohol German Wines
With the tagline “Keep it Light! Enjoy Wines Made in Germany.”, the German Wine Institute (DWI) will showcase wines with moderate alcohol levels at this year’s international wine trade fair ProWein, taking place from March 15 to 17.
Perfect Growing Conditions in Germany’s Wine Regions
This wine category represents a modern lifestyle and reflects the global trend toward more mindful consumption.
“With our fair presentation, we aim to position Germany internationally as the ideal country of origin for wines that offer enjoyable lightness,” explains DWI Managing Director Melanie Broyé‑Engelkes. “After all, our cool‑climate winegrowing regions provide perfect conditions for producing wines with moderate alcohol content that impress both with their intense aromas and their delicate elegance,” she adds.
Fresh Look for the DWI Stand
At the newly designed DWI booth in Hall 1 (D200), trade visitors can taste 20 selected low-alcohol wines each day. The wines were chosen in advance through a nationwide call for submissions and a blind tasting conducted by an expert jury.
On Sunday at 11 a.m., the DWI will present awards to the producers of the top three wines as part of an official ceremony.
Generation Riesling presents a brand‑new booth design
To mark its 20th anniversary, Generation Riesling has completely revamped its corporate design and will present its new logo for the first time at ProWein.
At the shared booth in Hall 1 / D210, located right next to the DWI, ten members from seven German wine regions will present their wines to the international trade audience.
Highlights of the young winemakers’ program include “Abentdbrot with Generation Riesling” – a relaxed end to the trade fair day on Monday from 5 p.m. and Sparkling Wine Breakfast on Tuesday from 10 a.m., under the motto “The early bird sips the Sekt.”
