'Wines of Germany' welcomes multipliers from all over the world

In her welcoming address, Monika Reule, Managing Director of the German Wine Institute (DWI), emphasized that the IMW symposium was a unique opportunity to present Germany as a wine country to so many important multipliers from all over the world.

The first day's lectures were dedicated to the topic "Wine Against the Odds". Caro Maurer MW invited Dr. Monique Bell (USA), Sonal Holland MW (India), Sibel Kutman Oral (Turkey) and Svitlana Tsybak (Ukraine) to speak on to the podium. They described the situation of the wine industry in their countries of origin: winegrowing in times of war in the Ukraine, restrictive politics and religious contradictions in Turkey, renewed civil rights and "Buy Black" movements in the USA and a lack of wine culture in India.

Discussing challenges, experiencing wine enjoyment

Then it was time to "taste the mastery". Master of Wine vintners, including the German wine producers and Masters of Wine Janek Schumann (Sachsen) and Jürgen von der Mark (Baden) each presented two of their most interesting products.

"We are pleased about the great interest of the wine world and the media in the 10th symposium, which was sold out early on," emphasized Julian Gore-Booth, IMW Managing Director. In addition to over 100 Masters of Wine, many other well-known personalities from the international wine world are among the guests. You can expect exciting lectures from more than 30 speakers, including prominent personalities such as Hollywood star and winery owner John Malkovich and the fourth-generation Argentine winemaker, Laura Catena.

In addition to intensive tastings, lectures and debates, exclusive wine-culinary dinners are on the program for the experts. The final "German Wine Night" is organized by the DWI together with the regional wine associations in Biebrich Castle. Zwiesel Glas, the sparkling wine producers Raumland and Schloss Vaux, Original Selters premium mineral water, Radeberger and the coffee roasting company Müller will support the enjoyable evening, along with the state of Rhineland-Pfalz.

Travel to the German wine regions

In the run-up to and after the conclusion of the symposium, numerous participants took and continue to take advantage of the opportunity to get to know the terroirs, wines and local producers of the German wine regions on six different trips. They thus followed the invitations of the regional wine associations of the growing regions Ahr, Franken, Mittelrhein, Mosel, Nahe, Pfalz, Rheingau, Rheinhessen and Sachsen.
