Global Riesling Masters: Four Gold Medals for Germany

One of the world's most important wine publications, UK based The Drinks Business, has recently announced the winners of its "Global Riesling Masters 2022" competition.

Lead judge, Jonathan Pedley MW, said that all the judges were delighted with the "crystalline purity and grace" of the Rieslings tasted and four German producers had cause to celebrate being awarded gold medals for their wines:

  • Weingut Hans Wisching, Franken: 2019 Iphöfer Julius-Echter-Berg Riesling Großes Gewächs trocken
  • Weingut August Eser, Rheingau: 2020 Doosberg Riesling GG trocken
  • Weingut Schloss Vollrads, Rheingau: 2019 Schlossberg Riesling GG
  • Ruppertsberger Weinkeller Hoheburg, Pfalz: 2021 Riesling Imperial

This wine came to the particular attention of the judges as it sells in the UK for under £10.

In addition, another six silver and one bronze medal went to Germany.
