Germany's Wine Ambassadors get ready for TV Show
The preparatory seminar held by the German Wine Institute (DWI) for the 'German Wine Ambassador Contest' marks the start of a period of concentrated and intensive preparation for the demanding competition for all candidates.
This year, from August 5 to 7, the winequeens and -kings from twelve wine-growing regions will gather in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. No candidate from Saxony will be participating in the election this time.
Media and communication training
A central component of the three-day workshop is media and communication training, in which the candidates receive tips for their stage appearances, which can be watched live by SWR television viewers during the finals. Style consulting and a photo shoot are also on the agenda. A crash course in “English for Wine Majesties” prepares the aspiring candidates for the English questions, which are an important part of the subject-specific preliminary round every year.
TV broadcasting concept and tips from the reigning queen
SWR television is using the preparatory seminar as an opportunity to inform participants about the broadcasting concept for the election events. In addition, the reigning German Winequeen Charlotte Weihl will provide helpful suggestions for the upcoming election and report on her past year in office.
SWR presenter Holger Wienpahl, who will once again host the preliminary round on September 20 and the final on September 26 this year, is looking forward to meeting the twelve reigning regional queens in person for the first time at the preparatory seminar.
