Hiking Alongside Germany's Vineyards
Together with the regional wine promotions, the German Wine Institute invites tourists and winelovers to the 15th nationwide "Wine Hiking Weekend" from April 26 - 27, 2025.
Pleasure hikes with a variety of wine cultural themes
This year, there are around 100 topical wine hikes with a variety of offers in almost all 13 wine-growing regions. They are carried out under the expert guidance of trained and local wine guides.
The hike “With wine and GPS through the Forster vineyards” on April 26 promises lots of fun and varied information about wine and viticulture. The enjoyable cultural hike “Salve! Young Palatines, old Romans” with wine tasting on April 27 offers interesting insights into the history of winegrowing in the Palatinate.
Nature and wine enthusiasts in the Saale-Unstrut region will get their money's worth on 26 April on a hike in the Bad Sulza vineyards with wonderful views of the “Tuscany of the East” and can also look forward to a tasting of Thuringian wines and a small snack along the way. Riesling and Pinot Noir lovers are invited to explore the world-famous vineyards around Rüdesheim on foot on April 27 in the Rheingau. The hike continues via Ebersbach Monastery to the Niederwald Monument, with wine tastings of both grape varieties along the way.
Royal Hike at Hessische Bergstrasse
The highlight of the WineWalkingWeekend is the annual “Royal Wine Walk”. It takes place every year in a different region in alphabetical order of the wine-growing regions. This year, the German Wine Queen Charlotte Weihl will lead wine and hiking enthusiasts through the picturesque district of Bensheim on the Hessian Bergstrasse on 26.04.2025. Accompanied by a hearty snack, participants can not only enjoy the wines of the region, but also learn more about viticulture and the winegrowers on the Hessian Bergstrasse.
