DWI draws a positive conclusion from ProWein 2025
This year's ProWein focus “White Pinot Paradise – Burgunderwunder Deutschland“ by the German Wine Institute (DWI) met with great interest from both trade visitors and the media.
During the three days of the fair, numerous trade visitors took the opportunity to taste the exciting collection of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris wines on show. In doing so, the DWI wanted to demonstrate both the diversity and international competitiveness of domestic white Pinot wines.
In addition, other events such as moderated tastings of Pinot sparkling wines and red Pinot wines or the presentation of Generation Riesling members attracted the trade fair audience.
ProWein press conference at the DWI stand
The well-attended press conference organised by Messe Düsseldorf at the DWI stand was a premiere. In this context, DWI Managing Director Monika Reule reported on current consumer trends and export developments as well as on possible consequences of the threatened US penalties. Afterwards, Marius Berlemann, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf and Peter Schmitz, Director ProWein, presented the key figures and highlights of the wine fair. Andreas Brokemper, CEO of Henkell Freixenet, answered questions from the media, especially on the topic of non-alcoholic wines and sparkling wines.
Awards and prizes
On the opening day of ProWein, the DWI honoured the best Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay from its collection, which were selected from over 300 wines.
On 17 March, the association of German-speaking wine journalists „Weinfeder e.V.“ honoured DWI Managing Director Monika Reule as „Wine Personality of the Year“ and also awarded the „German Wine Critics' Prize“ to the German Wine Institute.
German exhibitors very satisfied
Against the backdrop of a tense market environment, German exhibitors were very satisfied with this year's ProWein. According to DWI, with their wide range of fresh white and rosé wines, they particularly benefited from the global demand for these types of wine, which was reflected in the large number of visitors in the German halls.
