On May 1, German Wine Princess Katja Simon attended a Wine Festival in the State of Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW). Amid fine weather and a lively atmosphere, everyone raised a toast to the official start of the nationwide wine festival season.

Insights, exchanges, and first encounters

At the grand opening, Katja Simon welcomed guests to the town of Marl-Hüls and offered a glimpse into her role as an ambassador for German wine. During a tour of the six participating winemakers from five wine-growing regions, she chatted with both the winemakers and the visitors.

That evening, a culinary wine tasting followed, which she hosted together with Florian Koch from the German Wine Institute. “The guests were very interested, asked lots of questions, and we were able to teach them quite a bit about grape varieties and wine-growing regions,” reports the German Wine Princess.

A Vinophile Royal Visit with Expertise

In the coming months, the German Wine Queens will be traveling to numerous wine festivals across the country—from Norderney to Munich. There, they will serve as knowledgeable experts available to answer any questions about wine, give interviews, deliver expert presentations, and host tastings.

“Especially at wine festivals outside the traditional wine regions, we often meet guests who have had little exposure to wine until now. They’re interested in the product, enjoy the atmosphere, and are discovering the wine lifestyle for themselves. This is exactly where we, as Wine Queens, can step in and, through personal conversation, convey a sense of how much hard work, craftsmanship, and passion goes into a bottle of wine,” explains Katja Simon.
