At 15:00, the event will begin with a festive opening ceremony. Melanie Broyé-Engelkes, Managing Director of the German Wine Institute (DWI), will give the laudatory speech to mark the 20th anniversary. This will be followed by the walk-around tasting with plenty of opportunity to get to know the wines and talk directly to the wine producers.

Seminar & Talks

The seminar will take place at 14:00 before the official welcome ceremony will take place. Sommelier and wine expert Toni Askitis will guide you through a tasting of wines from current and former members of Generation Riesling. Due to the limited number of participants, registration is required.

The programme will be complemented by two moderated talks in the afternoon. Talk #1 „Generation Riesling: (M)a success story“ starts at 16:15, followed by Talk #2 „Next Gen: Between label, mindset & responsibility“ at 17:15. Both discussions will be moderated by sommelier and wine expert Conny Ganß. The focus will be on individual paths to success within the Riesling generation as well as the question of how the young generation manages to master the balancing act between modern marketing, clear identity and social responsibility. Separate registration for the talks is not required.

The best is saved for last

From 18:30, the anniversary will be celebrated with a big after-show party. To cool DJ beats and with selected GenR wines, current and former members of Generation Riesling will toast the success of the initiative together.

Generation Riesling - From young talent project to professional platform

20 years of Generation Riesling (GenR) stands for 20 years of strong community cohesion and creative exchange among young winegrowers who bring high quality artisanal wines to the glass with a great deal of passion and experimentation.

The GenR was founded on 8 June 2006 by the German Wine Institute (DWI) with the aim of providing a lively national and international platform for the young wine scene (< 35 years) in Germany. The eponym Riesling is representative of the entire domestic grape variety diversity that characterises Germany as a wine country.

Participation & Registration

The event is open exclusively to trade visitors from the catering, retail and media sectors. To the registration
