Reknown International Wine Journalists Visit Mainz
Four top‑level wine events turned the last weekend of April 2026 into a must‑attend date for wine professionals, international media, and content creators from around the world in the Great Wine Capital of Mainz.
On this occasion, the German Wine Institute (DWI) invited a group of high‑profile specialist wine journalists from ten countries to Mainz to attend the events. Over the course of two days, they took part in an intensive program offering insights into the diversity, quality, and innovative strength of German wine.
Program highlights included a visit to the 4th Mainz Sparkling Wine Fair, where more than 40 sparkling wine producers from across Germany personally presented their collections of traditional‑method sparkling wines. Also on the agenda was the VDP.Weinbörse, the world’s leading trade fair for top‑quality German wines. At Mainz’s Rheingoldhalle, more than 180 VDP member estates showcased their current vintages—providing a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of the finest wines Germany has to offer.
In addition, the press trip gave participants the chance to meet wine producers exhibiting at VINVIN – the Trade Fair for Origin Wines – as well as at the Biodynamic Wine Fair, and to taste and discuss their latest vintages.
Working closely with the international Wines of Germany offices, the DWI was able to attract renowned journalists who write for publications such as Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Food & Wine, Cosmopolitan, Bon Appétit, ELLE Sweden, Wine Magazine Ferment, botti.no, WineLife, Madame FIGARO Japon..
