New "Wine Impulses" funding programme launched
With the new funding programme „Wein-Impulse“, the German Wine Institute (DWI) and the German Wine Fund (DWF) are launching a targeted initiative to strengthen the stationary specialist wine trade and gastronomy in Germany.
The aim of the programme is to provide financial support to businesses that want to inspire new customers for local wines with creative event formats.
Support for the specialised wine trade and gastronomy
The funding includes a proportionate share of the costs of events at which German wines take centre stage - be it in the form of wine tastings, themed evenings or wine menus. The prerequisite is that the events are open to consumers and the focus is clearly on the presentation of German wines.
The amount of funding is 50 per cent of the actual event costs incurred, up to a maximum of 1,000 euros per business and calendar year.
Increase the visibility of domestic wines in Germany
„With ‚Wein-Impulse‘ we are setting an example for the diversity and quality of German wines. Specialist merchants and restaurateurs in particular make an important contribution to passing on these values to a wide audience with their events“, says Andreas Kaul, Head of the Retail & Catering Department at the DWI. „We want to make this commitment visible and promote it in a targeted manner.“
Only events that are planned, organised and carried out by the applicant companies themselves are eligible for funding. Stationary specialist retailers and catering businesses based in Germany are eligible to apply.
With „Wein-Impulse“, the DWI and DWF are pursuing the goal of further increasing the visibility of domestic wines in Germany, making regional diversity tangible and promoting wine culture in the long term.

More competitions for specialised trade & gastronomy
In addition to the promotion with „Wein-Impulse“, the DWI is also involved in other ways for the specialised trade and gastronomy. For example, two competitions are organised every year: the specialist trade award, together with the magazine WEIN+MARKT, and the „Ausgezeichnete Weingastronomie“ competition, which is awarded in cooperation with Original SELTERS and Der Feinschmecker. Both formats recognise special commitment to German wines and provide impetus for quality, innovation and wine enthusiasm. Both competitions will be published shortly.
